As part of my 60th birthday celebrations, I decided to treat myself to a make over and photo shoot at Karen Gavin Portraits in Farsley. I arrived with a selection of clothes – casual, smart and dressy.
I was introduced to the make up artist who was a lovely young lady. She talked to me about the make-up I usually wear (which is very little) and as she began she explained to me what she was using, why she was using it and the effect it would create. I was a little wary of looking over done but she judged it brilliantly and I felt I looked great.
I had lots of photographs taken, with my make-up being checked and touched up where required. I do not normally like having my photograph taken but I was made to feel at ease and smile and by the end of my session I was playing up to the camera with hats, sunglasses and fur coats. It was great fun and a fantastic experience. Karen is very professional and knows just how to get the best from her subjects with good suggestions for poses and props.
When I saw the results a while later I was absolutely delighted, I actually looked quite attractive, better than I ever thought I could look. The photographs had been produced in a range of colour and black and white, headshots, full shots, smiling, contemplative, posing and fun. Overall it was a great experience and one I would thoroughly recommend.
